Visa Requirements

Free Visa for Short Visit (BVKS)
Citizens from the following 12 countries are eligible for Free Visa for Short Visits and do not need to apply for a visa to enter Indonesia:

  1. Brunei Darussalam
  2. Chile
  3. Hong Kong SAR (Special Administration Region)
  4. Macao SAR
  5. Malaysia
  6. Morocco
  7. Peru
  8. Philippines
  9. Singapore
  10. Thailand
  11. Vietname
  12. Ecuador

The official entry requirements for a free visa:

  • Visitors must be a citizen from the 12 listed countries.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of entry into Indonesia.
  • Onward or return tickets are compulsory.
  • Visitors on Visa-Free Short Visits must be enter and exit from certain airports and seaports in Indonesia. In Bali, visitors can exit from Bali Denpasar International Airport (also known as Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport) and from Padang Bai and Benoa seaports.

Please note that Free Visa for Short Visits shall be used for the purpose of visiting Indonesia on a 30 day basis and is non-extendable, non-convertible and cannot be used to obtain another immigration permit.

Visa on Arrival

Citizens of the following countries may apply for Visa on Arrival at the airport:

Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Taiwan, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Laos, Latvia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Maldives, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Timor Leste, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

The general requirements for visa on arrival are

  • The applicant’s passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
  • Onward or return tickets are compulsory
  • Fees for Visa on Arrival:
    • Up to 30 days: US$ 25
  • Visitors on Visa-Free Short Visits must be enter and exit from certain airports and seaports in Indonesia. In Bali, visitors can exit from Bali Denpasar International Airport (also known as Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport) and from Padang Bai and Benoa seaports.

This visa can be obtained directly when you are landed at the certain airports and seaport in Indonesia regardless of the purpose of your visits (Business, Tourist, Social). The Visa on Arrival is neither a work visa nor a visitation visa. Therefore, it cannot be converted to obtain other immigration permits. The maximum stays permitted for the visa on arrival is 30 days. If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, you need to mention your intention to stay longer. Visa on Arrival can be extended for another 30 days.

Others nationals that are not granted with free visas or visa on arrival from may apply for the tourist visa at Indonesia embassy in their country.

VISA Application at Indonesia Embassies or Consulates

Visitors from other countries must apply for visa at Indonesia Embassies or Consulates in their home country. In addition, the visa cannot be replaced with any other immigration letters. The visa shall then be administered by Visa Officer in the presence of the applicant concerned.
